Data API terms of use

Plain terms for using the Muwazin Data API. Accepting them in the console is required before it opens, and using a key means accepting them whether or not you open the console.

1. Who this covers

These terms apply to anyone who holds a Muwazin Data API key or calls api.muwazin.me/v1, and to the organisation they hold it for. "We" and "Muwazin" mean the operator of muwazin.me; "the data" means everything the API returns: products, prices, price history, retailers, categories and store locations.

Keys are issued to one named person or organisation. Do not share a key outside that organisation, publish it, or embed it in an app, website or repository where someone else can read it. You are responsible for every call made with your key.

2. Evaluation keys are not a commercial licence

A free evaluation key carries no commercial licence. It is for evaluating the API: a prototype, a technical test, an internal proof of concept. You may not use it, or anything derived from it, in a product or service you sell, operate commercially, or offer to your own customers or users, whether or not you charge for it.

You also may not use an evaluation key to build a dataset you keep after the key expires, to train a model, or to produce a report, index or publication for anyone outside your organisation. If you want to do any of that, ask us: a paid plan covers it, and we will tell you which one.

Evaluation keys expire and carry a fixed allowance. Working around either is a breach of these terms. That includes requesting extra keys for the same person or organisation, using several accounts, and rotating addresses to renew an evaluation.

3. No resale or redistribution without written permission

On every plan, and on the evaluation key in particular, you may not, without our explicit prior approval in writing:

  • resell, sublicense, rent, trade or otherwise supply the data to a third party;
  • republish it, in whole or in substantial part, in a feed, file, dataset, API, dashboard or report available to people outside your organisation;
  • use it to build or operate a service that competes with Muwazin's own price comparison products;
  • mirror the catalogue, or keep a copy of it beyond what your integration needs to work.

Written approval means an email from us naming what you may distribute and on what terms. Nothing else counts: not silence, not a phone call, not a paid invoice. Approval is specific and does not extend to later uses.

Displaying prices inside your own product to your own users is different from redistributing the data, and is allowed on a paid plan under section 5.

4. Fair use of the API

Rate limits, unit quotas and browse allowances are part of the licence, not a technical inconvenience. Do not try to get around them by holding several keys, spreading calls across accounts or addresses, or scripting the consumer app or website instead of the API. Automated collection from muwazin.me or the Muwazin apps, rather than through the API, is not permitted.

Do not attempt to identify or re-identify individuals from the data (it contains none), probe the service for vulnerabilities without asking us first, or interfere with its availability for others.

5. Showing the data to your users

On paid plans you may show Muwazin prices inside your own product. Developer and Pro keys must carry a visible "Prices by Muwazin" credit linking to muwazin.me on any screen showing the data; Business and Enterprise keys may leave it out. An evaluation key may not be used to show the data to anyone outside your organisation at all (section 2).

Retailer names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. Muwazin is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any retailer, and your use of the data must not suggest otherwise.

6. Accuracy, availability and liability

Prices are collected from retailers' own public websites, once a night. They can be wrong, out of date, or different from the price in a physical store, and coverage can change without notice if a retailer changes its site. Every price carries the retailer it came from, the time it was collected and a link, so you can verify it.

The API is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. During early access there is no uptime commitment and no service level agreement unless we have agreed one with you in writing. We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the data, including decisions made on the strength of a price that turned out to be wrong. Check anything that matters against the retailer's own page.

7. Suspension

We may pause or revoke a key immediately if it breaches these terms, if it is being used in a way that threatens the service or our relationships with retailers, or if we are required to stop. Where the breach looks accidental we will normally contact you first. An evaluation key may be withdrawn at any time.

8. Changes, data protection and law

These terms are versioned. When they change, the console asks you to accept the new version before it opens again, and the version you accepted is recorded with the date. The current version is at the top of this page.

The catalogue contains no personal data. Account details you give us (name, email, organisation) are used to run your access and to reply to you, and are handled per our privacy policy. These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Questions, or a request for written permission: use the contact form.

Short version: a free key is for trying the API out. It is not a licence to sell, publish or redistribute the data, or to run a product on it. When in doubt, ask before you build.
